The Company’s principal activity is to supply components, systems and total solutions to the construction and mechanical engineering industries. The Group’s operations are carried out through four divisions. Ruukki Construction, Ruukki Metals, Ruukki Engineering and Ruukki Production. The Ruukki Construction division supplies metal-based solutions for commercial, residential and infrastructure construction. Ruukki Metals division supplies steel, stainless steel and aluminium as products, parts and components.
Ruukki Engineering division supplies metal-based solutions for the lifting and transport equipment, pulp and paper as well as marine and offshore industries. Ruukki Production division manufactures hot-rolled, coldrolled and coated plate and strip products, steel tubes and wire, bar and reinforcing steel products.
The Company was established in 1960. The company, which was set up by the Finnish government, had the main task of making the steel required by the Finnish metal industry. For the Company, the 1960s were an active period of building its production base. The steel works built in Raahe started production of raw iron in 1964. Three years later the company started to produce hot rolled steel plate. In 1968 Otanmaki Oy, a company with ore prospecting and mining operations, merged with Rautaruukki.
Production of hot rolled strip products started in Raahe in 1971. The works built in Hameenlinna to make cold rolled and galvanized sheet started up in 1972. The Company acquired its first tube works in 1973. The Company Completes Acquisition of AZST-Kolor CJSC in 2006.
Rautaruukki Oyj, with headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, is a public limited liability company which supplies metal-based components, systems and integrated systems to the construction and mechanical engineering industries. The Company’s share is quoted on the Helsinki Exchanges (Rautaruukki Corporation: RTRKS). Rautaruukki was established in 1960 which was set up by the Finnish government with the main task of making the steel required by the Finnish metal industry. The Company has used the marketing name Ruukki since 2004.
